The 2014 eclipses are happening in pairs – on the new Moon and the full Moon in April and October. The October 8, 2014 total lunar eclipse (called the “blood Moon” by some) is the first of the pair. This total eclipse is visible in Asia, Australia, the Pacific, North America, and South America.  In Vedic astrology or Jyotish, the lunar eclipse is happening in Pisces.

Some Short And Simple Answers
To Questions Concerning:
The Truth Of Life:

Where do we come from?
Where we are going?
Why we are here?

First we must properly understand the true context into which every human being is born.

Where do we come from?

All of Creation — the entire manifest universe — was created approximately 13.75 billion years ago.
Planet Earth is about 4.5 billions years old.
The duration of the present universe will last just over 34 & 1/2 billions years[1].

The cosmos was created out of a void of pure, undifferentiated consciousness  — Cosmic Consciousness[2], which is all that exists in the VOID between the cyclic cosmic creations.
It is this Cosmic Consciousness which generated the primordial throb — known as the great Spanda — that eventually evolved into the current universe. This Spanda initially took the form of the primordial sound of creation known universally as the sacred sound OM.

I am full of faith and place all my trust in the Divine – the Supreme Being and Almighty God.

It is very easy to lose faith these days.  However, I know that everything is happening for the best.  I know that everything is proceeding for the highest good of every living thing in Creation.  When the inherent perfection of Creation is truly apprehended, then our lives can be understood as an outworking of that perfect order.

Although I may lose heart in moments of great adversity, I know that it’s always in these moments that the greatest spiritual growth and inner transformation will occur.

Self restraint = Atma-vinigraha

I live my life immersed in the Self, the divine joy within; then, self restraint comes of its own accord. Self restraint creates its own sublime joy with each act of self control.

Oh boy! This is a tough one, especially during an age that is so fraught with stimulation toward the practice of its opposite.

Not only that, but these are rough times for everyone. Truly, we are living through an extraordinarily difficult period of human history. In some way or another each of us is being stressed and challenged and stretched beyond our limits. It is in times like these that it is very easy to fall back compulsively on what gives us comfort, pleasure and gratification. This especially becomes problematic when such pursuits of the pleasurable are done in excess, or to the detriment of one’s body, mind or soul.

I live my life totally absorbed in forbearance – and cultivate peace and joy wherever I go.

Life on planet Earth is really heating up, isn’t it?! Here it is very hot; there it is very cold. In some places it is very rainy or completely under water, while other regions suffer from unending drought and years without rainfall. One never knows what is just around the corner that will test one’s mettle and forbearance.

This evolving fact of life is especially true in the more ‘civilized’ nations of the West where many have lived a relatively pampered existence. All of the taken-for-granted luxuries are now under threat of loss due to the economic downturn. Unlike the third world countries, which have always suffered from lack, many of us are now experiencing deprivations for the very first time. This emerging context demonstrates the need for me to be truly detached from the vicissitudes of life. Planetary transitions, with such profound and fundamental change, are never easy or without major challenges.   Continue reading

Throughout India there is a very sacred ritual called Arati wherever the Hindu tradition is practiced. A puja tray is waved in front of one’s chosen deity or ishta devata with great love and reverence. On the puja tray can be found a lit candle, some beautiful flowers and the three sacred and symbolic substances.

Turmeric has a rich, mustard-like yellow color.

In addition to rice and vermillion, Turmeric is one of the three most sacred offerings that can be made in the process of worshipping the Divine. This is because Turmeric is known and highly respected as being the actual physical essence of the Divine Mother.

It is true that every plant under the sun has it’s own presiding spirit or deity. In the healing system of Plant Spirit Medicine any of these spirits can be ritually propitiated or invoked in order mitigate a specific physical disease, mental health condition or emotional imbalance which might be associated with a specific plant. By so honoring that plant according to certain forms of ritual worship and techniques, the malady can be ameliorated to the point of complete healing.   Continue reading

Sugar … as Sweetness … as the Lord

Note from the coach: This may be one of the most important holistic health coaching sessions you’ll ever have.

What is it, really, that we all seek in life? Ultimately, isn’t it happiness, joy, bliss … unending.

When we experience moments or events which bring us this happiness, how do we describe them?

Better yet, how do we describe those who are responsible for the joy that is brought into our lives?

Don’t we spontaneously call them, “Honey” or “Sugar” or “Sweetie Pie“?  Continue reading

This little piece is for the ultra-sensitive, thin-skinned, sun-damaged bodies among us who have bought every product on the market, tried every homemade lotion and engaged every lifestyle possible to repair and heal their dry, red or wrinkling skin.

We’re not saying it’s a panacea by any means; just a good ole fashioned tip … from The Health Coach.

Before we commence, we owe a debt of gratitude to Cleopatra. Cleopatra VII Philopator of Egypt, that is. You remember, she lived from late 69 BC until August 12, 30 BC and was the last pharaoh of Ancient Egypt and had a child with Julius Caesar.

There is much written about her and especially her extraordinary healing abilities and command of health knowledge. In such high regard was she held that her people considered her a reincarnation of ISIS, perhaps the greatest deity of healing across all traditions over several millennia.   Continue reading
